Your Koi ID
Last updated: October 8, 2026
A Koi ID is a free account that uses your Apple or Google sign-in. It keeps your pond backed up automatically and encrypted, and keeps your friends and friend code with you if you change phones. You can use Koi without one and create it whenever you like.
โจ Create a Koi ID
- Open the menu and tap Account (or Your Data).
- Tap Create a Koi ID.
- Choose Continue with Apple or Continue with Google.
Your pond stays exactly as it is, and your first cloud backup starts right away. Continue with Apple is available on iPhone and iPad.
๐ Connect Apple and Google
Open the menu, tap Account, then tap Koi ID. Under Connected accounts, tap Connect next to the one you haven't added yet. With both connected, you can sign in with either one and reach the same Koi ID and backup.
๐ฑ Signing in on a new phone
Install Koi, tap Sign in on the welcome screen, choose Sign in with Koi ID, and continue with the same Apple or Google account. Koi finds your backup and brings your pond with you. See Backing up and restoring your data.
๐ช Signing out
On the Koi ID page, tap Sign Out. Cloud backups pause, your pond stays on this phone, and your friends and friend code stay with your Koi ID for when you sign back in.
๐๏ธ Deleting your data
Open the menu, tap Account, then tap Delete Data. This permanently deletes the data on this phone, and if you have a Koi ID, the Koi ID too, along with its cloud backup, friends, and friend code. Koi Gold is billed by the App Store or Google Play, so cancel it separately from Manage your subscription in the menu. See Canceling Koi Gold.
