Backing up and restoring your data

Última actualización: 25 de mayo de 2026

Your Koi progress is stored locally on your device. If you delete the app without backing up first, that data cannot be recovered, so it is worth making a backup before switching devices or uninstalling.

💾 Create a backup

  1. Open the menu and go to Your Data.
  2. Tap Manual Backup, then Create Backup File.
  3. Choose whether to include media (journal photos and recordings, which makes the file larger), then save the file somewhere safe or share it to email or cloud storage.

Backups are not automatic, so create a fresh one whenever you have made progress you do not want to lose.

📥 Restore a backup

  1. On the device you want to restore to, open the menu and go to Your Data.
  2. Tap Manual Backup, then Load Backup File, and choose your backup. The filename starts with "koi_backup".

Loading a backup replaces the data and progress currently on that device and cannot be undone. If you are unsure, create a backup of the current device first.

📱 Moving to a new device

Create a backup file on your old device, transfer it to your new device (for example by email or cloud storage), install Koi, then load the backup from Your Data.

Your backup file is the only copy of that progress, so keep it somewhere safe like your device's Files app or cloud storage.
